Habitat for Humanity of Defiance County has
completed nine homes since we began in 1998. But HFHDC has not only built homes, it has made nine
low-income families' dreams come true. Take a minute
to learn about our partner families and their new
homes.
In 1998, the Diaz family became the first family to
partner with HFHDC to build and purchase their
Defiance home. Since this time, Juan and Lily Diaz
have enjoyed the benefits of homeownership and
raising their two children in a well-constructed
home.
In 2002, the Ruiz family became homeowners through a
partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Parents
Manuel and Bobby Ruiz reside in their Defiance home
with their children Chad, Alexandra, Lylia, and
Santiage. This home was made possible, in part, by a
First Energy grant.
In 2003, Kimberly and Joshua Zedaker purchased a
Habitat for Humanity home in Defiance. The couple
live with their three sons. This home was made
possible, in part, by a First Energy grant.
In 2004, April Crawford purchased her home in
Defiance, Ohio from HFHDC. A single mother of three,
April shares her home with her children Asya, Indya
and Rhoame. This home was made possible, in part, by
a First Energy grant.
In 2004, Rick and Autumn Contreras purchased their
home in Hicksville, Ohio from HFHDC. Together with
their four children Joseph, Eric, Gabriel, and Sari,
their dream of homeownership became a reality.
Habitat helped the Contreras fulfill their desire to
raise their children in "a safe and well-structured
home." This home was made possible, in part, by a
First Energy grant.
In 2005, KaDena Brooks purchased her home in
Defiance, Ohio from HFHDC. KaDena is a single mother
caring for her two young daughters DeStyni and
Kaiare. This home was made possible, in part, by a
First Energy grant.
In 2005, Frank and Tomi Salinas became the owners of
a Habitat home in Defiance. They live with their
children Allayana, Kayden, Britta and Jacob. This
