We offer families a hand up,
not a hand out! |
Habitat for Humanity of Defiance County is an
affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, (HFHI).
HFHI is an organization that provides affordable housing
worldwide.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization
that provides housing for low-income families with a
need for decent housing. Habitat is here to help fight
the war against poverty.
Volunteers and partner families are the ones who put
all the time into building the homes. Individuals, area
churches, and corporate donors provide money and
materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families as
well as their family and friends invest hundreds of
hours of labor called sweat equity, into building their
homes and other Habitat homes. The money that the
homeowners pay each month goes into a revolving fund to
build more Habitat houses.
The
Habitat for Humanity International website contains
more information on Habitat's history, mission,
volunteer opportunities and contact information for
other Habitat affiliates around the world.
